STFC combat is won in the crew screen as much as the shipyard — here's the system beneath the explosions.

  • Learn the counter triangle: Interceptors beat Battleships, Battleships beat Explorers, Explorers beat Interceptors — bring the right hull to each fight.
  • Officer crews (a Captain plus two bridge officers, backed by below-deck officers) drive most of your combat power through synergy abilities.
  • Tiering up and refitting a ship raises its stats and can unlock new abilities, often more impactful than simply building a bigger hull.
  • Hostile hunting is the core PvE loop — grind hostiles and Armadas for loot, blueprints and event points.
  • Endgame combat revolves around isolytic damage and Apex Barrier mechanics, which newer meta ships are designed to exploit or shred.
  • Match your crew to the task: dedicated mining, hostile-grinding, PvP-defense and Armada crews all use different officer combos.
  • Check a target's ship type and defense before attacking — attacking above your effective power just feeds the enemy loot.
