How to build momentum in STFC without burning resources, over-leveling, or missing the choices that matter most early.

  • Prioritize the main story missions first — they're the most reliable source of early resources, blueprints and progression.
  • Don't rush your Operations (Ops) level ahead of your ships and defenses; over-leveling paints a target on your station for stronger players.
  • Join an active alliance early, ideally a top-20 alliance on your server, for far better event rewards, help requests and protection.
  • Keep at least one of each ship type in rotation — Explorer, Interceptor, Battleship and a Survey/mining ship — to cover every situation.
  • Spend resources rather than hoard them: unspent parsteel, tritanium and dilithium can be raided, so bank them into upgrades.
  • You can freely switch servers up to Ops 12 — if you plan to play with friends, coordinate your server before that lock-in.
  • If you're free-to-play, lean into PvE (missions, mining, hostile hunting) and grow steadily rather than chasing PvP fights you can't win.
