XERA: Survival unfolds in 2022, as the age of AI arrives and tips the world into chaos. A prototype combat robot, outlawed and awaiting secure destruction by XERA Corporation, becomes self-aware, escapes and begins replicating on an industrial scale. Efforts to shut the AI down remotely only ignite a war humanity cannot afford to lose, and as nations turn on one another over resources, disenfranchised operatives converge to loot the ruined XERA facilities, establishing two Safe Zones on opposite sides of a forest. Between those bases there are no rules, only survival.
As an open-world shooter blending action, adventure, MMO, simulation and strategy elements, it favours fast, action-oriented play over heavy micromanagement. You can raid alone or team up with friends, drop rapidly back into combat via helicopter insertions from the safe zones, and rely on streamlined survival mechanics. A base-building system lets you gather resources, construct, defend, raid and destroy, while scavenging turns up weapons, ammo and supplies and crafting yields items such as drones, all across a massive custom 64 square kilometre map. A mission system adds rewarded campaign operations spread over five difficulty tiers, plus regular events, giving this PC survival experience plenty to pursue.
