Life in the Jianghu: professions & hobbies

Between fights, WWM is a life sim — fishing, music, medicine, housing and more.

By PC Game Pilot·Beginner·~5 min·Updated 6 Jul 2026

Half of Where Winds Meet happens outside combat. There are two layers: formal Professions (career tracks) and open life skills anyone can dabble in.

Professions

  • Healer — crafts medicine and treats people through a card-battle mini-game, where each ailment is an "enemy" you beat with treatment cards.
  • Scholar — a persuasion/debate track using "Gift of Gab" cards; crafts stat-buff talismans. Unlocks around level 13.

Life skills

  • Cooking — recovery and buff meals over any fire.
  • Fishing — unlock the rod from Angler Chu Shuiyang in Qinghe; feeds cooking, buffs and fishing contests.
  • Music — a rhythm mini-game ("Graceful Melody") on guqin, flute, pipa and more; instruments double as social emotes.
  • Plus minigames galore — mahjong, pitch-pot, chess, riddles — that reward currency and Exploration Points.

Home & company

Housing spans open-world base-building (from ~level 25), rental homes in Kaifeng, and the Homestead system from the v1.8 "Companions Make Home" update, with working industries and recruitable NPCs. Romance is player-to-player (NPCs are platonic only), with flirting, partnership and marriage via the in-game matchmaking. And it's a solo-friendly hybrid: play the story solo, team up in co-op, or drop into the shared MMO world for dungeons, bosses and PvP.
