About World War Z

World War Z poster

World War Z is a heart-pounding cooperative third-person shooter for up to four players, built around swarms of hundreds of zombies and already enjoyed by over 20 million players. Based on the Paramount Pictures film, it puts fast-paced gameplay front and center while exploring new storylines from around the globe. Humanity teeters on the brink of extinction as the undead apocalypse spreads from New York to Moscow to Japan and Jerusalem, leaving a hardened few to band together and outlive the dead.

The game's Swarm Engine seamlessly renders hordes of zombies in incredible firefights, backed by advanced gore systems for gruesomely satisfying action. The undead behave like real crowds, getting stuck in narrow corridors and climbing over one another to reach players on higher ground, and they grow tougher over time, eventually behaving like single-entity bosses as you progress. Co-op, story-driven campaigns follow unique groups across the world as they tell their own tales of perseverance.

Progression runs deep. You choose from up to eight distinct classes, including the Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, Exterminator, Dronemaster, and the newer Vanguard class in WWZ: Aftermath, each with its own perks and playstyle. As you grow stronger you unlock powerful weapon upgrades and level up your character, giving this indie action FPS lasting depth on PC.
