About Universe Sandbox

Universe Sandbox poster

Universe Sandbox is a physics-based space simulator that hands you the power to create, destroy and experiment on a truly cosmic scale. It weaves together real-time gravity, climate, collision and material interactions, revealing both the grandeur of the universe and the delicate fragility of our own planet. The result is a playground where scientific accuracy meets open-ended tinkering.

The simulation covers an impressive range of possibilities. You can run N-body gravity calculations using Newtonian mechanics at almost any speed without needing a supercomputer, stage massive collisions between planets and stars that leave molten craters behind, and assemble your own systems starting from a single star before adding planets, moons, rings, comets or even a black hole. Earth's climate can be modeled too, watching sea ice advance and retreat with the seasons or freezing the planet by moving it farther from the Sun.

Available on PC as both a desktop version and a VR mode supporting the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift-Touch and Windows Mixed Reality, this casual, indie simulation invites curiosity above all. It is a tool for anyone who wants to play with the mechanics of the cosmos and see what happens.
