Tomb Raider II is the second chapter in Lara Croft's ongoing saga, and it widens the scope of her exploits by sending her around the globe once again. This time the objective is a precious artefact that must be secured before it falls into the wrong hands, a race that carries Lara from one exotic locale to the next in classic treasure-hunting fashion.
The prize at the heart of the story is the legendary Dagger of Xian, an object of considerable menace. According to the lore woven through the adventure, whoever possesses the dagger gains the power of a fire-breathing dragon, which raises the stakes of Lara's pursuit far beyond simple archaeology. As an action-adventure with platforming at its core, the game leans on the series' familiar strengths, tasking PC players with navigating hazardous environments, outmaneuvering rivals and claiming the artefact before its terrible power can be unleashed by someone else.
