Thea: The Awakening is a turn-based strategy and survival game rooted in Slavic myth, set in a world swallowed by an apocalyptic force known only as The Darkness. Strigas, Baba Yagas, and other monstrosities roam freely, yet there are no heroes, no great slayers, and no armies left to drive them back. All you have is a handful of desperate, starving survivors, and you are their last real hope.
The design fuses turn-based strategic play with the grit and tension of a rogue-like, wrapping it in a story you gradually uncover through in-game events. Combat is handled through a distinctive card-battle system, giving conflicts a layer of tactical complexity that sits apart from the strategic map. This RPG-flavored indie blend rewards careful planning at every step.
How you survive is largely up to you. You might hunker down in your village to reinforce its defenses, or venture out to explore the wider world. Conflicts can be settled through assassination, stealth, diplomacy, hunting, and other means, depending on the skills your people have developed. Fighting is never the only option, and finding your own path is central to saving your people from the Darkness.
