About The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter poster

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is an adventure game in which you play Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who receives a disturbing letter from a boy named Ethan Carter. Sensing that Ethan is in grave danger, Paul travels to the boy's home in Red Creek Valley, only to find things even worse than he feared. Ethan has vanished in the aftermath of a brutal murder, and Paul soon suspects it may not be the only killing in the area worth investigating.

Drawing inspiration from the weird fiction and other macabre tales of the early twentieth century, the game sets out to evolve immersive storytelling. Although it features a private detective and a fair number of mental challenges, it is not an especially puzzle-heavy experience, placing its emphasis instead on atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of its characters.

Discoveries do not come without your effort, however. Using Paul's supernatural ability to communicate with the dead, along with your own powers of observation, you piece together the mystery behind a trail of corpses, the roots of a dark ancient force lurking in Red Creek Valley, and the fate of the missing boy. The beautiful yet ominous world was created using revolutionary photogrammetry technology, giving PC players a strikingly realistic setting to explore as this eerie detective story unfolds.
