The Riftbreaker: Prologue lets you experience the events that unfold before the main game's story campaign, sending you to explore an entirely new world, gather resources, build up a base, and defend against thousands of alien creatures, or simply take the scenic route and do whatever you please. As a free-standing taste of the full experience, it blends action, adventure, RPG, simulation, and indie sensibilities into one package.
You play as captain Ashley S. Nowak, the Riftbreaker, an elite scientist and commando encased in a powerful Mecha-Suit she nicknames Mr. Riggs. This suit withstands the harshest conditions and comes equipped for base construction, resource extraction, specimen gathering, and combat, and it can travel through rifts that span vast distances across space. Ashley steps through a one-way portal to Galatea 37, a distant planet at the far reaches of the Milky Way, aiming to establish a base that enables travel back to Earth and further colonization.
The core work is base building: your goal is to construct a two-way rift home, a complex and energy-hungry invention that requires a full chain of mines, refineries, power plants, and research facilities rather than simple solar collectors and a bit of steel. Paired with exploration of the unknown Sycorax-belt planet, this PC prologue offers a self-contained introduction to the Riftbreaker's blend of survival, construction, and defense.
