About The Medium

The Medium poster

The Medium is a story-focused, third-person psychological horror game built around innovative dual-reality gameplay and an original soundtrack co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka. You take on the role of a medium gifted with psychic abilities, moving between separate realities or exploring both at once, and using an Out of Body experience to reach places your physical self cannot. To survive the spirit world's otherworldly dangers, you can conjure energy shields and unleash powerful spirit blasts.

At its core is a mature, morally ambiguous story where nothing is quite what it seems and everything has a hidden side. As a medium, you perceive more than those around you, and each new perspective reshapes your understanding of what truly happened at the Niwa resort. The narrative rewards close attention and a willingness to sit with uncomfortable truths.

The standout mechanic plays out across two worlds shown on screen simultaneously, letting you navigate the physical and spirit realms at the same time and exploit the interplay between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, open new paths, and awaken memories. The spirit world itself is a grim mirror of our own, inspired by the unsettling art of Beksinski, where hidden sins take physical form. For PC players who favor atmosphere over jump scares, this indie horror adventure offers a distinctive descent into two overlapping realities.
