The story picks up roughly a year and a half after the Erebonian civil war. A great deal has shifted since then, from the stances of nations to the Empire's internal politics and even Rean Schwarzer's own life. Now a graduate of Thors Military Academy, Rean serves as an instructor at the newly opened Thors Branch Campus, an academy soon thrust into the national spotlight. There he takes charge of a brand-new Class VII, guiding them forward while a dark plot threatens his homeland.

Combat has been sharpened over decades of refinement, and this entry adds systems like Brave Order and the Break System to open up new possibilities in battle.
