The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is an RPG that follows Lloyd Bannings as he comes back to his hometown after three years, intending to honor his late brother by joining the Crossbell Police Department. Instead of a straightforward posting, he is placed in the Special Support Section, a freshly formed division that handles odd jobs and minor requests. Alongside his new teammates, he begins to sense that the vibrant city conceals a darker criminal underside and a handful of unsettling secrets.
The setting is Crossbell itself, a prosperous city-state that has grown into one of the continent's economic centers while remaining the object of a territorial tug-of-war between the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard. This chapter of the celebrated The Legend of Heroes series uses that tense backdrop to frame its story.
Lloyd's colleagues form a colorful group: Elie MacDowell, granddaughter of the city's mayor; Randy Orlando, a womanizing ex-soldier; and Tio Plato, a young technical prodigy. Their department earns mockery from the media and disdain from the rest of the police force, yet the team presses on to make Crossbell a better place. As they work through cases, they steadily come face to face with the truths hiding beneath the city, giving PC players a story-driven entry point into this beloved RPG saga.
