The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is the third entry in a series of standalone, cinematic branching horror games, in which the decisions you make determine both the story and its outcome. It delivers a self-contained tale that can be experienced without having played the earlier games in the anthology.
Set at the close of the Iraq War, the story follows Special Forces hunting for weapons of mass destruction who instead unearth something far deadlier: a buried Sumerian temple harboring a nest of unearthly creatures. To survive the night beneath the earth, they are forced to forge an uneasy brotherhood with enemies from the world above, fighting their way out of the temple against hordes of deadly monsters that have marked them as prey.
A key tension comes from a crew split between two opposing factions who rarely see eye to eye, leaving you to decide whether they can set aside their rivalries and fight as one. The game's two critically acclaimed multiplayer modes return as well, letting you share your story online with a friend or aim for safety in numbers through the offline five-player pass-the-pad mode. It stands as a branching cinematic horror adventure on PC.
