Survivalist: Invisible Strain is an open-ended game about building a community once civilization has collapsed. You gather survivors by making them like you, respect you, or fear you, then work to keep them warm, keep them fed, and construct a settlement that shields them from zombies, looters, and whatever else is lurking out there. Stealth, weapons, or plain words are all valid means to your ends. It is the sequel to Survivalist, though you need no prior knowledge to follow along, and it currently uses a randomly generated world with a story mode planned to follow.
Every living character carries a name and personality traits, remembers what you do, and lets those memories color their mood and their opinion of you. They lead lives of their own, gossiping, eating, sleeping, keeping warm, working, and fighting, and some hand out quests you are free to pursue or ignore. Win enough goodwill, respect, or fear, and any of them can be recruited to your cause.
Combat offers real depth, letting you fight with guns, bows, or melee weapons, target enemy legs to slow them or heads for heavier damage, and dodge or block, as your foes can too. Characters bring different skills and can level up their Archery, Firearms, or Hand to Hand abilities. Stealth even opens up hunting zombies, rabbits, or people. Spanning action, adventure, RPG, simulation, and strategy, this indie title gives PC players a deep post-apocalyptic sandbox.
