Stones Keeper: King Aurelius is a free prequel to the main Stones Keeper campaign, telling a story of courage and self-sacrifice centered on Aurelius, leader of the Order of the Griffin. When the Inquisition guarding the borderlands finds undead increasingly slipping into the Order's territory and asks for aid, Aurelius takes up the task of defending his lands, unaware that this threat is only a fragment of what awaits his Order in the years to come.
At the heart of this strategy game is a floating island-fortress crowned by the Order's castle. As you develop it, you can hire fresh warriors and outfit them with weapons, armor and elixirs, while upgrading the fortress's core systems to repel pirate ships, artillery and rival flying islands. Steering the castle across the map, you explore ruins, unravel secrets and take on story quests that yield rewards and artifacts.
Combat plays out turn by turn and encourages clever use of the surroundings. You can shelter behind environmental objects or smash through them to move more freely, opening up new tactical angles. Squads can be tailored by recruiting companions with varied specializations, skills and weapon preferences, and with diverse missions and battles ahead, Stones Keeper offers layered turn-based strategy on PC.
