About SteamWorld Dig

SteamWorld Dig poster

SteamWorld Dig blends platforming and mining with a heavy dose of Metroidvania-style exploration. You step into the metal boots of Rusty, a solitary mining steambot who arrives at a struggling old mining town that desperately needs help. From there, the goal is to burrow ever deeper through the earth, hauling up riches while gradually piecing together the truth about an ancient danger stirring far below the surface.

Originally a hit on Nintendo's 3DS eShop, the game was brought to PC, Mac and Linux with HD visuals, Steam achievements and other refinements tuned for the platform. Its setting mixes Steampunk machinery with a Western frontier atmosphere, populating the world with steam-driven robots and the crumbling leftovers of a lost human civilization now inhabited by dynamite-toting troglodytes.

As an action-adventure indie title, SteamWorld Dig leans on randomized worlds and emergent play, so each descent uncovers fresh secrets, buried treasure and lurking terrors. The underground stretches out as a network worth combing through, rewarding curious players who keep digging into its darkest corners rather than rushing for the exit.
