About Starbound

Starbound poster

Starbound opens with you fleeing your home and finding yourself adrift in space aboard a damaged ship, forced to beam down to the planet below and gather the resources needed to repair it. From there the vast, infinite universe opens up, and the game's guiding idea takes hold: there is no wrong way to play. This action-adventure sandbox with RPG and indie roots hands you the tools to write your own story across the stars on PC.

The possibilities branch in every direction. You might set out to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries as you go, or forgo the heroic path entirely to colonize uncharted planets. You can settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, hop between worlds collecting rare creatures, or delve into dangerous dungeons in search of extraordinary treasures.

Discovery fuels the experience, from ancient temples and modern metropolises to trees with eyes and mischievous penguins. With hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects at your disposal, you can build anything from a secluded cabin in the woods to a medieval castle or an underwater arcade. Starbound was built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable, giving you the means to make the universe your own by adding new races, biomes, dungeons, and quests. The possibilities, fittingly, feel limitless.
