Spirit of the North is a single-player third-person adventure inspired by the breathtaking, mysterious landscapes of Iceland, with a story that grows out of Nordic folklore. You play an ordinary red fox whose fate becomes entwined with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a magical spirit fox, and as you journey over mountains and beneath red-stained skies you gradually learn more about your companion and the ruined land around you.
One of the game's boldest choices is its silence. It is deliberately built with no dialogue and no narration, asking you instead to breathe in your surroundings, read the landscape, and puzzle out the meaning of a lost ancient civilization for yourself. That quiet approach turns exploration and puzzle-solving into a contemplative act rather than a series of instructions.
Across its atmospheric world you solve a variety of puzzles while piecing together the story through mood and environment alone, letting the scenery and the bond between the two foxes carry the emotional weight. Blending adventure, casual, indie, and puzzle sensibilities, Spirit of the North offers PC players a serene, wordless journey through a hauntingly beautiful vision of the far north.
