About South of Midnight

South of Midnight poster

South of Midnight comes from the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few and casts a spell rooted in the folklore of the American Deep South. This third-person action-adventure follows Hazel through a macabre, fantastical world drawn from Southern mythos, where creatures of legend walk a landscape that feels both lush and decayed. It is a dark folktale for modern times, as concerned with family and identity as it is with monsters.

When a hurricane tears through her hometown of Prospero, Hazel is called to become a Weaver, a magical mender of broken bonds and spirits, and pulled into a Southern Gothic world where memory takes physical form. Newly imbued with these powers, she sets out to rescue her mother and safeguard her town, confronting dangerous creatures while untangling the knotted history of her own family and reconciling its weight against who she wants to be.

Combat centers on wielding an ancient power to restore corrupted creatures and expose the traumas consuming them, casting weaving magic to fight destructive Haints and mend the tears in the Grand Tapestry. Set across the decayed county of Prospero, with a crafted visual style and music inspired by the region's rich history, this action-adventure gives PC players a haunting, distinctly Southern journey home.
