About Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun poster

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period. You take control of a team of deadly specialists and sneak through the shadows between dozens of enemies, choosing your approach as you infiltrate mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps. Whether you set traps, poison your opponents or avoid contact entirely, careful planning is everything in this indie strategy title.

The group is made up of very different personalities, and working together as a team seems impossible at first. Over the course of many missions, however, trust is won and friendships form, with each member confronting their own personal demons as the characters develop their own dynamic. That interplay gives the tactical challenge a strong narrative backbone.

Each specialist plays differently. Hayato is an agile ninja who clears the way silently with sword and shuriken, while Samurai Mugen prefers a powerful approach that can defeat more foes at once at the cost of flexibility. Aiko masters camouflage disguised as a Geisha, the street child Yuki lays traps and lures enemies to their fate, and the mysterious marksman Takuma picks off targets from a distance with his sniper rifle. On PC, mastering these missions means weighing which character suits each task and how they behave as a team.
