Session: Skate Sim pursues authentic skateboarding through dual-stick controls, where each stick represents one of your feet. You learn to control them and transfer weight just as you would on a real board, and the physics have been developed with a focus on realism, smoothness and immersion. Like a real beginner, your first hours can feel challenging, but once the technique clicks the thrill of landing your very first kickflip is unrivalled.
The game leans into the golden age of street skating, drawing inspiration from the 1990s and its culture with no scoring system to get in the way. It is just you, your spot and your imagination, with no judges needed to tell you whether your noseslide or varial heelflip is right for the location. Because certain real-world spots are iconic, the developers added several of them to skate in, including Black Hubbas and the Brooklyn Banks in New York City and FDR Park in Philadelphia.
Customization runs deep, with full options and four difficulty levels so you can tailor the experience to yourself, plus a complete tutorial to get you started. True to its mantra that if it wasn't caught on video it didn't happen, the game captures your best lines. Blending simulation, sports and strategy, this indie PC title makes technical, culture-steeped skateboarding its whole focus.
