Saturnalia is a third-person, multi-character roguelite horror adventure drawn heavily from the folklore of Sardinia, Italy, a region rich with unique traditions and culture. You play as four characters whose deeply connected storyline ties back to the haunting rituals of an ancient village. That village is an elaborate maze, and no two iterations are ever precisely the same, so you explore and unravel its mysteries largely unguided.
Your primary tool is a humble box of matches. With a limited supply to light your way and darkness constantly closing in, you must manage that resource carefully while finding a path through the fog toward the truth the town would rather keep buried. Die, and the village reconfigures itself into an entirely new form, though narrative and puzzle progress carry across each game-over in true roguelite fashion.
Progression is non-linear and adaptive. Each of the four characters brings a special ability suited to a different aspect of exploration and investigation, and you use tools and consumables to solve puzzles and open shortcuts into new areas. On PC, Saturnalia leans on its shifting structure and match-lit tension to keep every descent into the village feeling uncertain and dread-soaked.
