About Rust

Rust poster

Rust has a single, unforgiving aim: survive. Everything on the island seems intent on your death, from the wildlife and the environment to rival inhabitants and other survivors, and you must do whatever it takes to make it through another night. Now entering its eleventh year of continued expansion, the game has received more than 385 content updates, with a guaranteed content patch arriving every month that brings balance fixes, AI and graphics improvements, and a steady stream of new maps, weapons, vehicles and utility items.

The scope of systems on offer is enormous. Rust features procedurally generated worlds with community map editor support, the ability to host your own servers with server-side modding, and a wide range of transportation including horses, modular cars, hot air balloons, helicopters, bikes, trains and boats. You will find complex electrical, farming and automation systems, base building and raiding, new factions and enemies, fresh monuments and terrain, and advanced underwater areas to discover, along with regular seasonal events that always bring something interesting or dangerous, often both.

Recent additions keep the island evolving. A massive graphics upgrade and environment overhaul have refreshed the look of the world, and there are large overground and underground train networks to explore, as well as musical instruments that let you perform for other players. The 2025 Primitive Update introduces new siege weapons and shields, expanding an already deep multiplayer survival experience that continues to draw PC players back for more.
