Rise of Kingdoms tier list

Which commanders are worth investing in right now — a launch-window meta snapshot.

By PC Game Pilot·Intermediate·~4 min·Updated 6 Jul 2026

Rise of Kingdoms has a clear, actively-tracked commander meta that shifts with each major patch. As of 2026 the meta is defined by True/Smite Damage and Combo Attacks. Standout S/S+ picks include Alexander Nevsky (cavalry rally/field), Zhuge Liang and Yi Seong-Gye (archers), Xiang Yu and Justinian (cavalry), Guan Yu and Scipio/Liu Che (infantry), plus 'Prime' reworked versions of classics like Sun Tzu and Hermann. Crucially, tiers are role-dependent — a commander that is S-tier for rallying or open field can drop to B-tier for garrison or gathering — so any tier list should be read per role (open-field, rally, garrison, gathering, PvE). Older former-S commanders like Nevsky and Guan Yu can slip as new Smite-damage commanders arrive, which is why the Commander Swap system matters. Community tier lists (AllClash, Rise of Kingdoms Guides, LDPlayer) are updated monthly and are the best live reference.

Top picks

  • Alexander Nevsky (S+) — The cavalry rally king that reshaped the open field.
  • Yi Seong-Gye (YSG) (S) — The do-everything archer nuke.
  • Guan Yu (S) — The infantry bruiser who tanks, heals and hits.
  • Xiang Yu (S) — Overpowered cavalry burst for rallies and field.
  • Zhuge Liang (S+) — The balanced archer strategist.
  • Sun Tzu (A) — The free epic that carries every beginner.
