About Rhythm Doctor

Rhythm Doctor poster

Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game with a wonderfully odd premise: in its world, defibrillating patients in sync with their heartbeats has healing properties. You save lives with a single button, slamming your spacebar in perfect time on the seventh beat so your patients might just pull through. Each patient carries a unique illness rooted in complex music theory, from polyrhythms and hemiolas to irregular time signatures, and the game is designed to teach you these concepts without you even realizing it.

The campaign packs over 20 handmade levels, each with its own story and each introducing a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way. A large cast of doctors and patients drives an overarching, character-centric storyline, and you can play through it solo or grab a friend for drop-in, drop-out local multiplayer across the whole campaign. For those craving a sterner test, challenging Night Shift versions of each level await the brave.

Beyond the story, a robust level editor lets you make, share, and play community creations, using your own music, snapping notes to the beat, and applying more than 50 visual effects and backgrounds. As an indie mix of casual accessibility and strategic timing, it shines on PC, though its flashing lights warrant caution for players sensitive to epilepsy.
