Regiments is a real-time tactics game set in 1989, imagining the outbreak of a new war as NATO and Warsaw Pact forces clash across the German countryside. You take command of a Regiment and lead it through the chaos of a wide-scale Cold War conflict, breaking through enemy lines, calling in artillery and air support, maneuvering, feigning retreats, and staging mobile defenses without ever letting up.
Command feels appropriately high-level thanks to the Platoon Command system, which lets you direct battles with precision while sparing you the micromanagement of individual infantry. You act as a commanding officer rather than a sergeant, and you can reshape your force on the fly by calling in unique Task Forces, each arriving with its own equipment and off-map support options.
The plot-focused campaign spans several Operations that tell a layered story of warfare around the Inner German border from multiple perspectives. Across nine diverse Operations, each covering up to several days of fighting, you fight tactical battles, manage limited resources during lulls, and make operational decisions. Three distinct skirmish modes with dynamic objectives and over 100 authentically modeled vehicles round out this strategy-driven simulation on PC.
