About Railway Empire 2

Railway Empire 2 invites you aboard the express train to riches and fame, casting you as a clever entrepreneur who takes over a small railway company in the early 1800s and turns steam engines into the workhorses of the economy. Your goal is to grow that modest outfit into the largest railway company on the continent, outsmarting competitors as you connect cities and businesses with an ever-expanding web of lines, bridges, and tunnels. Sixty famous locomotives are at your disposal, hauling freight and passengers through the historic upheaval of the Industrial Revolution.

This simulation and strategy sequel boasts bigger, more detailed, and livelier maps than before. Two huge maps cover the entire United States and continental Europe, while more focused maps zoom in on specific regions. Improved track construction streamlines the busywork, since signals now place themselves automatically, bridges can carry more than four tracks, and expandable stations can grow to hold up to eight.

Variety extends to how you play. You choose from six characters to lead your company, each with distinct strengths and weaknesses, then tackle the five-chapter campaign, pick from 14 different scenarios, set your own difficulty in a fully customizable Free Play mode, or build the perfect network in a dedicated construction mode on PC.
