About Quake II

Quake II poster

Developed by id Software in 1997, Quake II is a critically acclaimed first-person shooter that broke from its predecessor with an entirely new science fiction narrative and setting. This release delivers the authentic, enhanced, and complete version of the original, bringing the military sci-fi FPS up to modern standards with support for resolutions up to 4K and widescreen, improved enemy animations and gore, restored AI behaviors, enhanced cinematics, dynamic and colored lighting, anti-aliasing, and the original heavy rock soundtrack by Sonic Mayhem.

The campaign drops you into a war between mankind and the Strogg, a hostile alien race that attacked Earth. Humanity's counterstrike on the Strogg homeworld has failed, leaving you outnumbered and outgunned among the few survivors. Your task is to fight through fortified military installations and dismantle the enemy's war machine, since only then will humanity's fate be decided.

The collection is packed with content. It bundles both original mission packs, The Reckoning and Ground Zero, the all-new expansion "Call of the Machine," and a free copy of Quake II 64. Online and local multiplayer and co-op with crossplay round out this enhanced FPS package on PC.
