Pathologic 3 is a psychological horror game that gives you just twelve days to save a town from a mysterious plague. You play as Daniil Dankovsky, a physician, researcher and prodigy whose study of death has led him to this remote settlement deep in the eastern steppe, in search of a man said to be immortal. But a deadly contagion sweeps through the town, the immortal man turns up dead, and you fail to stop the outbreak, leaving you to return to the beginning, fix your mistakes and try again.
Your medical training is your greatest tool. You examine the sick, make diagnoses and work with patients face to face, treating each as a unique story and a medical mystery. Patients may lie, omit the truth or hide their motives, so you must separate fact from fiction to identify real symptoms, moving step by step toward a vaccine that could change everything. Every minute counts, and the pressure to save them all while uncovering the secrets of immortality never lets up.
Survival also means imposing your own rules on the town. You can enforce quarantines, confiscate precious medicine, vaccinate the population, suppress riots, deploy patrols and declare curfews, unlocking new decrees as you go. As an indie adventure blending RPG and simulation elements on PC, it warns that you will make mistakes and face their consequences, shaping the town even as its people grow to hate you.
