Outlast is a first-person survival horror game built by veterans of some of gaming's biggest franchises, and its premise is grim: hell is an experiment you cannot survive. You play investigative journalist Miles Upshur, exploring the notorious Mount Massive Asylum in an effort to stay alive long enough to expose its terrible secret, if you dare set foot inside.
Deep in the remote mountains of Colorado, Mount Massive is a long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently reopened in strict secrecy by the research and charity branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation. Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, Upshur breaks into the facility and finds himself confronting something that blurs the line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. His only hope of escape lies in uncovering the awful truth at the asylum's heart.
Billed as a true survival horror experience, the game sets out to prove that the most terrifying monsters of all are born from the human mind. Combining action, adventure, and indie horror sensibilities on PC, Outlast strips you of any means to fight back and leaves you to flee, hide, and endure as you piece together the dark story unfolding around you.
