About Ostranauts

Ostranauts poster

Ostranauts drops you into a solar system severed from a ravaged Earth, where you scrape by as a scavenger in the grim margins of space. Tired of wage-slave scrapper life, you've finally scraped together the funds, plus a hefty loan, to strike out on your own. Set in the same universe as Blue Bottle Game's earlier hit NEO Scavenger, it challenges you to manage a dysfunctional crew and ship while fending off bankruptcy, or something worse.

Every decision shapes how your story unfolds. During character creation, a Career Kiosk lets you define your background, income, qualifications, traits, and skills, all of which prove vital once you're managing a ship and its crew. You begin the game already saddled with enemies, ex-lovers, and acquaintances to seek out or avoid, and your earliest choices ripple forward into the options and outcomes of later conversations.

Building your dream ship is a hands-on affair using detailed, functional parts. You scavenge pre-loved components from the boneyard, hook up subsystems, add power and fuel, and replace parts worn down by your adventures, since rare salvage is far cheaper than tracking down the original manufacturer. Blending indie RPG and simulation design on PC, Ostranauts turns survival in deep space into an intricate, consequence-driven grind.
