About Nova Roma

Nova Roma poster

Nova Roma is a city-building strategy and simulation set as the once-great Roman Empire slides into decadence and decay, tasking you with leading a small band of citizens in search of new lands to found Nova Roma, a bastion for all that was once good in the Empire. Starting from a humble village, you must appease the gods with grand temples, satisfy your citizens' many needs, and build a society the world will envy for millennia.

A wise city planner knows how to harness the surrounding world, so you erect massive dams and aqueducts to control the flow of water, reshaping the land into artificial watersheds and reservoirs while watching how your actions affect soil fertility. You seek out distant resource deposits and build infrastructure to move raw materials and processed goods across vast stretches of untamed territory, balancing urban sprawl against the risks of rapid expansion, or risking the wrath of gods and nature through sheer hubris.

As more people flock to your city, you contend with a growing list of needs and desires, from pottery and wine to bread and games, guiding citizens as they become artisans, gladiators, and thespians through lives of daily toil and evening reward. Matters of taxation and technology round out the challenge, giving PC players a deep Roman city-builder full of long-term planning.
