Murder by Numbers turns picross-style logic puzzles into detective work. You solve pixel puzzles to reveal clues, use those clues to interrogate witnesses, and gradually piece your way toward the truth behind each case. That loop of deduction and interrogation drives the whole adventure.
Set in Los Angeles in 1996, the story follows Honor Mizrahi, an actress on a hit TV detective show whose boss turns up dead minutes after firing her, casting her as the lead in her own murder mystery. She teams up with SCOUT, a discarded reconnaissance robot with a mysterious past, and together this new detective duo investigates murders across TV studios, glitzy award shows, drag clubs, and more. Along the way you'll uncover a dark conspiracy by questioning a wild, wonderful cast of characters designed by Hato Moa, creator of Hatoful Boyfriend.
The whole thing is wrapped in unmistakable 90s style, from the fashions and the sass to the questionable jokes, all set to an energetic soundtrack by acclaimed composer Masakazu Sugimori, known for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, and Viewtiful Joe. As an adventure-puzzle game on PC, Murder by Numbers pairs brain-teasing logic with a story that never takes itself too seriously.
