Morbid Metal drops you into the ruins of a distant, dystopian future and challenges you to survive a brutal world built for high-octane, fast-paced action. This rogue-lite hands you dozens of unique combos and a striking twist: you can shapeshift between characters mid-combat, chaining their abilities together to tear through enemies with style.
The survival hook is the character-swapping itself. Switching heroes on the fly works much like swapping weapons in an FPS, and every member of your team brings their own move set and signature skill. Stringing those together lets you build unique combos and leave nothing but carnage in your wake. Runs push you to clear levels, grow stronger, and unlock powerful upgrades, but death wipes your progress until you pick yourself back up. Along the way you gather Routines, unlock Protocol Buffs, and spend Void Matter to keep evolving, while persistent upgrades ensure no two attempts play out the same.
The story frames you as the last AI created by a mysterious Operator inside a post-collapse simulation, tasked with elimination. Morbid Metal began life as a solo university side project before growing into a full team effort, and it stands as the debut PC game from SCREEN JUICE, the indie studio founded by that original creator.
