Metro Simulator 2 is a simulation game that recreates the Moscow Metro with a strong focus on realistic train controls, letting you step into the role of a subway driver. Line 6 is faithfully modeled with its 24 stations, along with the tunnels and objects that fill the spaces between them, and because the stations were built across different eras, each reflects the design sensibilities of its time.
The game offers several ways to play. Free Mode hands you the controls of a train and lets you choose your own starting station or dead end, drive without passengers, or set a route and timetable that you must then keep to, departing on schedule like a real operator. Scenarios instead place you in predetermined situations, presenting unusual events that can arise in a metro system and asking you to listen to the dispatcher's instructions and carry them out.
Supporting the experience is an advanced speed control system meant to help prevent collisions and other mishaps, so keeping an eye on the speedometer and the traffic lights ahead keeps your run safe. Two distinct trains take center stage, each with its own controls and the basic functionality needed for safe passenger transport. Built by an indie team, it delivers a niche but detailed slice of Russian subway operation on PC.
