You play as Artyom, born just before the disaster but raised underground and never having ventured beyond the city limits. A single fateful event pushes him into a desperate journey to the heart of the Metro to warn what remains of mankind about a looming threat, a trek that carries him from forgotten catacombs to the ruined surface where his choices shape humanity's fate.
