About Insurgency

Insurgency is a lethal, close-quarters multiplayer shooter that grew out of an award-winning Source mod of the same name. Built on the Source Engine, it drops teams into street-level combat where survival depends on seizing crucial strongholds and destroying the enemy's supply. The action favors realism over spectacle, striking a deliberate balance between tense one-life gameplay and longer, more sustained firefights.

The design rewards coordination and caution. Because rounds can hinge on a single mistake, players lean on teamwork and objective play rather than lone heroics, making it a highly competitive experience that punishes carelessness. Both multiplayer and cooperative modes are supported, giving squads room to test their tactics against other players or against the game itself.

As an indie action title with a strategy-minded core, Insurgency carved out a reputation on PC for its unforgiving lethality and its focus on ground-level infantry combat. Rather than piling on gadgets or flashy systems, it keeps the emphasis on positioning, communication, and controlling key points of the map, delivering a shooter where discipline tends to decide who walks away.
