About Inside the Backrooms

Inside the Backrooms poster

Inside the Backrooms is a cooperative online horror game for up to four players, built around a shared push to escape a series of unsettling levels. Each level introduces its own puzzles and mechanics, so working through them with friends means constantly adapting to new rules. The concept draws directly from the well-known creepypasta, folding in many recognizable references, from iconic entities to important elements fans of the lore will spot right away.

Survival hinges on exploration and attention. You search rooms for supplies, store what you find in your inventory, and hunt for the items needed to advance and unlock new areas of the map. The deeper you go, the more dangerous things become, which makes reading each area carefully, identifying every entity, and knowing how to avoid them essential to staying alive.

Atmosphere is central to the experience. Endless identical rooms with old, dirty carpet and pale yellowish walls create a gloomy, uneasy feeling that makes it clear this is no safe place. As an indie horror adventure designed for PC co-op, Inside the Backrooms leans on that mood, its escalating difficulty, and its puzzle-driven progression to keep a group tense from one room to the next.
