About Infection Free Zone

Infection Free Zone poster

Infection Free Zone drops you into a world where society has collapsed. The Mad Virus has swept across the globe with the speed of jet planes, and the infected, highly aggressive, fast, and strong, brought civilization down within weeks. Cities stand empty, with no electricity, water, or food, yet a handful of survivors remain, and it's your job to give them a fighting chance.

One of the game's most striking features is that it can be played on any real place on Earth. You simply type in the name of a city or town, download the map, and start playing, drawing on OpenStreetMap's real-world data to set your survival story wherever you like. From there you establish an Infection Free Zone, setting up shelters and production facilities, adapting existing buildings to new needs, and raising farms, power houses, and defenses of walls, gates, and towers. Your knowledge of the city matters too, since scavenging means remembering where the grocery stores, pharmacies, and weapons might be, all while the old buildings hide lurking infected.

Each night your settlement may face large hordes of the infected, which you fight off using every tool available, from melee and ranged weapons to vehicles, walls, and light. You can research a vaccine or cure for ultimate victory, or simply enjoy rebuilding entire cities, and you'll also have to reckon with other surviving groups. Blending action, simulation, and strategy, this indie title turns real-world maps into a survival battleground on PC.
