Hydroneer is a mining sandbox game centered on digging for gold and other resources, then using what you unearth to build sprawling machines and a full base of operations. Starting with primitive tools, you gradually work your way up to hydro-powered equipment and player-built structures, evolving a modest dig site into a serious enterprise through a tycoon-style progression system on PC.
The world itself is shaped by a voxel-based terrain system that gives you real freedom over the land. You can carve out cave networks, hollow out quarry pits, or pile up mud mountains as you see fit, and the deeper you dig the better your rewards, with relics of the past waiting in the depths. A dynamic modular system underpins construction, letting you assemble structures and hydro-powered machinery to fit your own design, run networks of hydro pipes, and control pressure across your setup.
Those machines, or rigs, are large hydro-powered contraptions that handle everything from extracting resources to moving goods around your operation. You can also craft resources, weaponry, and jewellery from what you gather. Various parcels of land dot the world, each with its own advantages, whether that's deeper pits, more attractive scenery, or closer stores, and it's up to you to decide where to plant your base. Blending adventure, simulation, and strategy, this indie title rewards patient, methodical builders.
