Hunt: Showdown 1896 ushers in a new era for the unforgiving extraction shooter, dropping you into corrupted backwaters lost to history where timeless evil festers. You can venture in alone or bring up to two teammates, but either way the world is out to consume you, with twisted monsters and rival Hunters standing between you and the Bounty you're chasing.

At the heart of the game is the Bounty Hunt. You race competing Hunters to track down monstrous bosses, banish them, claim their bounty, and then fight your way to an extraction point while others try to stop you at every turn. Progression is high-stakes and permanent: every bullet counts, every wound hurts, and death means starting over, but survival lets you unlock dark powers and forbidden wealth, and each hard-won victory becomes something to remember.

Atmosphere and sound do enormous work here.
