GRAVEN is an action-adventure RPG that casts you as a faithful priest of the Orthogonal order, exiled unto death for a crime committed in defense of another. You awaken alive again in a small boat, adrift in a swamp, where a stranger ferries you to solid ground and hands you vague instructions along with a mysterious staff and book. From there you set out as a pious priest to alleviate suffering, uncover deceptions and smash the eldritch perversions encroaching upon reality itself.
The game is described as a first-person puzzler, weaving problem-solving and exploration through its combat and story. That framing gives it a thoughtful, investigative rhythm as you make your way through a dark yet distinct medieval fantasy world, balancing the priest's mission of mercy against the grim horrors closing in around him.
A marriage of modern development tools and techniques with a stark late-90s aesthetic brings the whole experience to life, giving it a deliberately retro look built on contemporary foundations. It features character designs by Chuck Jones, known for Duke Nukem 3D and Half-Life, and the voice talent of Stephan Weyte, recognised for Blood, Fire Emblem and Dusk. For PC players who enjoy atmospheric first-person adventures with an old-school flavour, this indie-spirited title offers a moody, puzzle-driven journey through a cursed medieval realm.
