About Diplomacy is Not an Option

Diplomacy is Not an Option poster

Diplomacy is Not an Option is a base-building survival RTS with an active pause, set in a medieval fantasy world where your choices can decide the fate of the land. You take on the well-worn shoes of a minor Lord forced into constant conflict, almost always outnumbered, so you build walls, raise armies and experience warfare on an enormous scale as more than twenty-five thousand enemies crash against your castle walls. Survival means mastering engineering, economy and even magic.

The setup is as darkly comic as it is dire. Your King is a mighty leader but an egocentric, hard-drinking one, and after emptying the treasury and failing to fix things by raising taxes, he pushes the consequences onto you. With peasants rioting over hunger and taxes, the King orders you to crush the rebellion and sail to a distant land rumored to be overflowing with gold.

What gives the game its edge is choice. You can obey your sovereign and set out to refill the palace coffers, side with the rebel leader to bring the tyrant to justice, aid the natives of an uncharted continent, or cast aside conscience entirely and lead armies of the Undead. As an indie strategy title on PC, it wraps massive siege battles around branching decisions.
