Diplomacy is Not an Option Demo poster

This demo for Diplomacy is Not an Option lets you sample the base-building survival strategy at the heart of the full game, casting you as a long-suffering minor Lord forced by circumstances into battle against vastly superior enemy forces. Boxed in by a quarrelsome king, duplicitous advisors and foes on every side, you have no peaceful way out, which is exactly how the game earns its name. The showcase moment is warfare on a staggering scale, with over ten thousand enemy units storming your castle walls.

The scenario sets the tone. Your King loves drinking almost as much as fighting, and while he waged foreign wars and conquests, the lands at home fell into decay, with crumbling infrastructure and starving people creating fertile ground for rebellion. When the masses rise up, misled by feckless advisors, there is little warning or aid, leaving you to don the helm of battle and defend your lands from murderous peasants.

Victory brings scarce relief, since you prove to be the only one capable of protecting the kingdom, tasked with putting down rebellions, flushing out their leaders and restoring stability. Rumors of vast treasure in distant lands hint at what the King truly needs. As an indie PC strategy demo, it offers a compact taste of siege-scale defense.
