CyberTaxi merges two very different experiences into one, functioning as both an action-packed first-person shooter and a taxi simulator set against a bleak vision of the future. Players take on the role of a cab driver working in the dark, noir-tinged city of Hindenburg, driven by a single overriding goal: to escape the hellish place they are trapped in.
As a taxi driver you take on dozens of varied missions for a range of competing factions, and completing them unlocks access to further districts of Hindenburg city. The dangerous work of ferrying passengers through this hostile environment gives you chances to spend your earnings, outfitting your taxi with an assortment of weapons, shields, and gadgets to help you stay alive on the road, in keeping with the indie title's blend of action, racing, and simulation.
The hundreds of customers you pick up are more than just fares, since talking with them can yield valuable information about the world and your situation. By taking jobs, upgrading your cab, and mining passengers for clues, you inch toward the possibility of survival and, ultimately, an escape from the unsafe, post-apocalyptic urban sprawl that hems you in.
