Contraband Police drops you into 1981 as a young officer trainee posted to a border checkpoint in the mountainous region of Karikatka. Entry into the Acarist People's Republic is tightly controlled by the party, and your every move is watched. The stakes rise sharply when a comrade is killed during an intervention, setting a tense tone for the work ahead.
The job spans several roles. Document control means checking every visitor's papers, where even a tiny discrepancy means refusal and errors grow harder to spot as the paperwork piles up. Smuggling detection has you acting on intelligence about suspicious drivers, searching vehicles with a UV flashlight and using the right tools to pry out hidden goods so nothing crosses the border. Some situations force you into shootouts, since your station is a constant target for Oberankov's gang and away missions can turn violent.
Desperate smugglers may try to flee the control zone, and it falls to you to give chase and arrest them, buying and upgrading police cars to sharpen your pursuit. You can also upgrade the station itself to bolster defenses and inspections, though maintenance costs keep climbing. On PC, this action, adventure, and simulation blend keeps you busy on every front of border duty.
