About Assassin's Creed® II

Assassin's Creed II is the follow-up to the record-setting original, once the fastest-selling new IP in video game history, and it launches a new hero into a new age. You play as Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble drawn into the ways of the Assassins after his family is betrayed, setting him on a path of vengeance across the Renaissance. The game keeps the core action-adventure formula that made the first title a hit while adding fresh experiences meant to surprise and challenge players.

Ezio himself is a departure from a typical stoic protagonist. He's a charismatic ladies' man and a free spirit with plenty of panache, yet grounded by a very human side, and through his journey you gradually rise to become a master assassin. His story of family, vengeance and conspiracy plays out against the beautiful but brutal backdrop of Renaissance Italy, where he befriends Leonardo da Vinci, challenges Florence's most powerful families and learns his craft among the canals of Venice.

The setting is a highlight in its own right. Fifteenth-century Italy was less a unified country than a collection of city-states ruled by powerful families in places like Florence and Venice, letting you tour some of the most beautiful cities in the world during an era when culture and art were flourishing.
