About '83

'83 poster

The year is 1983, and the uneasy standoff between NATO and the USSR has finally snapped into open war across Europe. '83 drops you into that alternate Cold War as an online tactical shooter that chases authenticity and realism while staying approachable. You pick a side, NATO or the Warsaw Pact, and throw yourself into the fight.

Battles here are large, pitting 40 players against 40 across sprawling engagements with infantry, vehicles, tanks, and called-in fire missions. Matches run a focused 30 to 40 minutes and lean on objective-driven, squad-based teamwork, while Team Commanders steer their faction through an RTS-style metagame. Era-accurate weapons and equipment handle with realistic weight and lethality, grounding every firefight in the period.

Billed as a spiritual successor to Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, the game comes from a team with roots in the Rising Storm and Red Orchestra series and years spent building accessible realism shooters. Crucially, it respects your time, trimming the tedium that often bogs down the mil-sim genre so you spend more of it in the action. As an MMO-scale strategy and simulation shooter for PC, '83 aims to deliver hardcore tension without demanding your entire week.
