Drakensang Online review-in-progress: still worth starting in 2026?

A lightweight fantasy action MMO with old-school edges, active events and a simple free-to-play hook.

Drakensang Online is a long-running free-to-play action MMORPG from Bigpoint. On Steam it presents as a compact dungeon crawler with online co-op, PvP and in-app purchases; on the official site, the current live service is still posting 2026 events and bonus-code news.

Our take

The game is best treated as a lightweight fantasy grind, not a modern ARPG showcase. Combat is readable, classes are easy to understand and the install size is modest. The downside is age: presentation, monetisation and repeated event farming can feel dated next to newer competitors.

Who should play it?

Try it if you want a free PC ARPG MMO that runs on modest hardware and does not demand the commitment of Lost Ark or Path of Exile. Skip it if you need modern combat feel, deep builds or a fresh endgame economy.
